Alexey Leonidovich Pajitnov is a Soviet-born American computer engineer and video game designer. He is best known for designing and developing Tetris in 1984 while working for the Dorodnitsyn Computer Center of the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union (now the Russian Academy of Sciences).
Alexey Pajitnov entered the nation in 1991, and he later attained citizenship. In 1996, Pajitnov and the Dutch video game designer Henk Rogers established The Tetris Corporation. Prior to this, Pajitnov received no royalties despite Tetris’ enormous popularity.
In 1977, Pajitnov finished a season-long internship at the USSR Academy of Sciences. He was hired in 1979 after receiving his degree to work on speech recognition at the Dorodnitsyn Computer Centre of the Academy. Every time the Computing Center received new hardware, the researchers there would develop a quick software to evaluate the hardware’s computing abilities.
