Following a “confrontation” between two sizable crowds of individuals this morning, police have charged a 20-year-old man with murder in connection with the death of a 24-year-old man close to the Fortitude Valley railway station.

This morning, the man and two other people were detained close to a train platform. After helping the police, the other two men—ages 20 and 21—were let go without being charged.

The guy apparently was stabbed during an alleged “altercation” between two groups of males that started in Brunswick Street mall at around 4 am and proceeded to a nearby retail centre.

Despite receiving initial first aid and treatment, the victim passed away on the spot. Inspector Sean Cryer, the regional duty officer, reported that the incident was captured on CCTV at around 4 in the morning.

They discovered a male lying on the ground, and people close by had blood on them, he added.

The individual was injured and received first aid and CPR from police and emergency personnel who were sent to the scene, according to Inspector Cryer, but the victim was eventually pronounced dead there.

Three people had, “decamped into the rear of the railroad station,” according to Mr Cryer. “Those people were searched for, and they were found on platform 4.”

At the Metro Valley facility on Brunswick Street, a crime scene was proclaimed. Train services, according to Queensland Rail, won’t be impacted.

Services at bus stop 211 on Brunswick Street, which is outside the station, have resumed, according to a Translink representative, after being temporarily disrupted.
