Gina Lollobrigida Grandchild: Meet Dimitri Skofic

Italian actress Luigia “Gina” Lollobrigida, who was created on July 4, 1927, was also a photojournalist and politician. Italian company Luigia Lollobrigida was established in Subiaco, Lazio. Her father was a furniture maker. Giuliana, Maria, and Fernanda were the names of Gina’s three sisters. Lollobrigida competed in several beauty pageants when she was younger and worked as a model. She started making cameos in historical dramas in Italy.

In the 1950s and the beginning of the 1960s, when she first gained notoriety as a global sex icon, she was a well-known actress in Europe. Lollobrigida was one of the few major international actors from Hollywood’s Golden Age who was still alive at the time of her passing.

A potential seven-year contract requiring Lollobrigida to perform in three films annually was made available to her by Howard Hughes in 1950. She rejected the final terms of the contract and decided to stay in Europe, so Hughes fired her. Hughes still held Lollobrigida’s contract even though he sold RKO Pictures in 1955.

Six Bambi awards, two Nastro d’Argento accolades, and three David di Donatello honours were given to Lollobrigida. She garnered three Golden Globe nominations in 1961, as well as one prize for Female World Film Favorite. She received one BAFTA nomination.

For her achievements in photography and sculpture, Jack Lang nominated her in 1985 to be a member of France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
