Born Carol Bayer on March 8, 1947, Carole Bayer Sager is an American lyricist, singer, songwriter, and painter. Bayer Sager was raised in Manhattan, New York City, by Anita Nathan Bayer and Eli Bayer.
Jewish parents raised her. Carole Bayer Sager graduated from New York University with a bachelor’s degree in speech, dramatic arts, and English.
Carole Bayer Sager collaborated with Toni Wine to write “A Groovy Kind of Love,” her first pop hit, while they were both still students at the High School of Music and Art in New York City.
It was recorded by the British invasion band The Mindbenders, and it became a hit all over the world, peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100.
