Where is Lord Mountbatten buried?

The gruesome 1979 IRA assassination of a beloved British royal, which took place the same day as a deadly coordinated attack on British troops, led to outrage, heartbreak and a heightening of “The Troubles,” the decades-long Northern Ireland conflict.

Mountbatten, then named Prince Louis of Battenberg, was born on 25 June 1900 at Frogmore House in the Home Park, Windsor, Berkshire. Mountbatten was the youngest child and the second son of Prince Louis of Battenberg and his wife Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine.

Mountbatten was baptised in the large drawing room of Frogmore House on 17 July 1900 by the Dean of Windsor, Philip Eliot. His godparents were Queen Victoria, Nicholas II of Russia

Just inside the west door of Westminster Abbey, at the base of a pillar is a memorial brass to the Earl and Countess Mountbatten of Burma. This was unveiled by his nephew Philip, Duke of Edinburgh on 14th February 1985 and is by designer Christopher Ironside.

The Belgian fossil marble slab is inlaid with brass and stainless steel.
