Darrell Wayne Lukas, an American horse trainer, was born on September 2, 1935, in Antigo, Wisconsin. The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame inducted D Wayne Lukas, as he is known, in 2007.
The American horse trainer has twenty Breeders’ Cup triumphs and five Eclipse Awards to his name. At the end of the year, his horses received 25 Eclipse Awards. Lukas had a childhood fascination with horses.
He went on to teach high school and coach basketball after that.
Lukas began training quarter horses in California in 1968, and after a decade of success in which he coached 24 world champions, he switched to thoroughbreds.
