On March 28, 1991, Derek Dallas Carr, a quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League, was born. Carr, the youngest child of Rodger and Sheryl Carr, was born in Fresno, California. He and his family were previously residents of Bakersfield before moving to Sugar Land, Texas, in 2002, when his oldest brother, David Carr, was chosen first overall by the then-expansion Houston Texans. Carr moved back to the city with his family for his senior year and enrolled at Bakersfield Christian High School.
He played college football at Fresno State, where he twice received first-team All-MWC recognition. The Raiders made the playoffs in 2016 for the first time since the team’s inception in 2002 with the help of Carr, a three-time Pro Bowl selection.
