John Goodman is an American actor. He is best known for his role as the family patriarch Dan Conner in the ABC comedy series Roseanne. He is also known for his role as Fred Flintstone in the movie The Flintstones.
Goodman was born on June 20, 1952, to a Baptist family. He played football while in high school and got a scholarship to Missouri State University where he graduated with a degree in Fine Arts. Goodman had to abandon football due to an injury and focused on acting.
Goodman made his film debut in a small role in Eddie Macon’s Run and his first major role in True Stories. He scored the role of Dan Conner in Roseanne from 1988 to 1997 and starred in the spin-off The Conners. He also lend his voice to animated films like The Emperor’s New Groove, Monsters University, and The Princess and the Frog.
